Porcelain veneers
are offered at our Pompano Beach and Coconut Creek offices as a cosmetic dentistry treatment to help patients gain confidence by
improving any smile imperfections that they may have. Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that are placed over the teeth in order to close gaps,
conceal cracks or chips, or straighten slightly misaligned teeth. Unlike other types of veneers, porcelain veneers reflect light similarly to real
teeth, resulting in a natural look for patients. Veneers can be placed over a single tooth or several teeth to transform the entire mouth.
If you are interested in learning more about porcelain veneers or would like to schedule a consultation with Dr. Manon Bourque-Hutchison, please contact our cosmetic and restorative dentistry practice today.
The process for getting porcelain veneers usually takes two office visits. During the first visit, Dr. Bourque-Hutchison addresses any questions or concerns that the patient may have. Following this consultation, the patient receives a dental examination in which Dr. Bourque-Hutchison takes a mold of the teeth. This mold is then sent to a lab to be evaluated so that the correct size and shape of the veneers can be created. Once the mold is received, typically in about one to two weeks, the patient then returns for a second visit to have the veneers placed. A thin layer of the tooth’s enamel is shaved off, making room for the veneer. Depending on the patient, this process requires little or no anesthesia. Dr. Bourque-Hutchison works with the patient to make sure that the veneer fits comfortably and is the correct shade. Once the size and shape have been decided on, the veneer is bonded to the tooth using special cement. Finally, the veneer is sealed tightly in place by using a light beam to harden the cement.
Many people are affected by discolored, misaligned, broken, or chipped teeth. Porcelain veneers offer a relatively quick and painless solution to these and other aesthetic issues. Indeed, patients who receive this treatment experience dramatic improvements in the overall look of their smiles. While veneers have been around for decades, porcelain veneers are unique because they most closely match the shade and reflective properties of natural teeth. Patients can have porcelain veneers placed on a single tooth or on several teeth while maintaining a completely natural-looking smile. In addition, because porcelain is more stain resistant than any other dental material, porcelain veneers are especially long lasting. While the placement of porcelain veneers take only a few office visits, the results can last up to ten years.
Dr. Bourque-Hutchison has helped hundreds of patients in the Broward County and Fort Lauderdale areas revive their smiles. If you are interested in improving your smile with porcelain veneers, contact us at our Pompano Beach or Coconut Creek office.
