Many people are embarrassed about their misaligned teeth, but don’t want to undergo the trouble of traditional metal braces. Invisalign® invisible braces offer the smile-straightening benefits of metal braces without the pain and aesthetic drawbacks. These nearly unnoticeable plastic trays also allow patients to achieve straight teeth in the same amount of time as traditional braces, and can even straighten severely misaligned teeth. With the ability to take the trays out at any time, patients report that Invisalign® invisible braces are easy to maintain as well. What Are Invisalign® Invisible Braces?
Invisalign® invisible braces consist of a series of custom-molded clear plastic trays. Each tray, worn for about two weeks, is designed to push the teeth very gradually toward alignment. Designed to be thin and unobtrusive, the trays are barely noticeable to the wearer and to others, but still strong enough to move the teeth. The trays can be taken out when the patient is eating or brushing his or her teeth, and for cleaning as well. Invisalign® invisible braces allow patients to continue all their regular activities while simultaneously straightening their teeth, and are easy to maintain.
The Treatment Process
Most of our patients from the Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale areas have questions about Invisalign® invisible braces. Therefore, we start each treatment with a staff-patient consultation and thorough examination of the patient’s mouth. We then take a very detailed mold of the patient’s teeth and send it to the Invisalign® lab, where they create the series of trays and send it back to us. After that, it’s simply a matter of the patient wearing the trays. We recommend that patients wear them at least 22 hours each day, if possible. The entire process takes the same amount of time as traditional braces - up to two years - though many patients finish long before that.
