Dr. Manon Bourque-Hutchison – General Dentistry, TMJ Treatment, Periodontal Care, and More
At the offices of Dr. Manon Bourque-Hutchison, we take pride in preventing problems and helping our patients maintain good dental health. In addition to our cosmetic dentistry and restorative dentistry procedures, Dr. Bourque-Hutchison and her staff provide high quality preventive care, including sealants, tooth extractions, cleanings, and gum disease treatment and prevention. Our office is also equipped to care for patients who need periodontal treatment, as well as patients with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. The ability to treat a wide variety of disorders has enabled us to help many patients, and has earned us a loyal local patient following.
Smile Maintenance
Dr. Manon Bourque-Hutchison places a strong emphasis on taking care of little problems before they become major issues. This includes high-quality routine cleanings, which can prevent many major problems, as well as other general dental procedures like tooth extractions. Our team is also skilled in endodontic therapy, which entails root canals and other procedures dealing with the roots of the teeth. We also offer dental sealants to our patients, as well as treatment for canker sores. Although regular brushing and flossing is a must, it is sometimes not enough to ensure complete dental health - Dr. Bourque-Hutchison and her staff can take care of the problems that brushing and flossing cannot.
TMJ Treatment
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the ‘hinge’ of the jaw, and is a surprisingly complex area of the body. Due to the intense force of the jaw muscles, the cushion of cartilage in the joint may slip, leading to direct bone-on-bone contact. Patients with TMJ problems may experience clicking or popping in this area when they chew or open their mouths, or the jaw may lock in place temporarily. For some people this can be quite painful, and can cause headaches and pain in the neck and back. Dr. Manon Bourque-Hutchison can use a variety of methods to treat TMJ disorders and ease their painful symptoms.
Periodontal Care
Our staff is also experienced in caring for patients with gum disease. If left untreated, gum disease can lead to the loss of teeth, and can have adverse effects in other areas of the body as well. Gum disease is a product of the bacteria that are present in the mouth – if left to build up on the teeth, they can create plaque, and get down in between the patient’s teeth and gums. Symptoms of early gum disease include bleeding when brushing the teeth, and tender or swollen gums. If the disease is allowed to progress, the gums may recede away from the teeth, and the teeth may become loose and eventually fall out. Dr. Manon Bourque-Hutchison and her team can help stop the advancement of this common ailment, and can help patients avoid it altogether.
