With the rising popularity of cosmetic dentistry, it’s no surprise that we receive many questions at our practice. Many of our Broward County patients have questions about cosmetic dentistry, our practice, or the procedures we offer, and we have tried to answer the most common ones here.

How often should I get my teeth cleaned?

Dr. Manon Bourque-Hutchison recommends having your teeth cleaned at least every six months, if not more often. This prevents gum disease, and allows us to spot potential problems before they become serious.

What can cosmetic dentistry do for me?

Cosmetic dentistry can do everything from whitening your teeth to completely reshaping your smile with a dental makeover. If there is anything you wish to change about the appearance of your teeth, chances are cosmetic dentistry can help. Our Broward County office is the premier cosmetic dentistry practice in the Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale areas, and we offer patients the latest in cosmetic procedures.

Can you restore my cracked, chipped, or missing tooth?

In short, yes. Restorative dentistry allows us to repair teeth that have been damaged, or replace those that are missing. Also, porcelain veneers can be placed on the front of teeth to cover up chips and cracks, and patients have the option of dental bridges or dental implants to replace missing teeth. We can use restorative procedures in addition to cosmetic dentistry to perform a complete smile makeover as well.

Is it normal for my gums to bleed when I brush and floss my teeth?

Although it is fairly common for gums to bleed a little when brushing, this often indicates the beginning stages of gum disease. If the disease progresses, it can lead to the recession of the gums and possible tooth loss as well. Most people, with regular brushing, flossing, and visits to the dentist, are able to prevent gum disease from getting worse, however.

Can you make my silver fillings less noticeable?

Tooth-colored Fillings allow Dr. Manon Bourque-Hutchison to replace older amalgam fillings with tooth-colored ceramics, making them nearly undetectable. These Tooth-colored Fillings are as strong as silver fillings, and last as long as well.

I’m nervous about going to the dentist – is it going to hurt?

We know the mouth is a very sensitive area of the body, and the entire staff at our practice is committed to making sure our patients are as comfortable and pain-free as possible. We have had experience with patients of all ages, and have earned a reputation for gentleness.

Can my crooked teeth be straightened?

Yes they can. Our practice uses Invisalign® invisible braces to help patients achieve straighter smiles. They work on nearly every patient, no matter how misaligned the teeth are, and are easy to maintain and unobtrusive.
