CEREC®
is an innovative restoration system used at our Pompano Beach and Coconut Creek offices. This computer technology
allows Dr. Manon Bourque-Hutchison to create and place dental veneers and crowns all in the convenience of a single office visit. Although the
process is faster than alternative options, the results are natural looking and durable.
If you have been considering restorative dentistry but don’t have time for multiple office visits, contact Dr. Bourque-Hutchison at her Pompano Beach or Coconut Creek office to find out whether CEREC® is right for you.
The procedure begins with an examination so that Dr. Bourque-Hutchison can determine the exact treatment needed. After a treatment plan has been decided upon, the dentist will prepare the damaged tooth, typically removing some enamel to make room for your crown or veneer. Once the teeth have been cleaned, Dr. Bourque-Hutchison will place reflective powder on the tooth and use computer imaging to create an accurate image of the tooth or teeth that are being restored. The CEREC® machine is used to create a well-fitted ceramic tooth filling, dental crown, or veneer. Once the restoration has been created, usually in under an hour, it is chemically bonded to the tooth for a seamless look. The ceramic can then be adjusted to ensure comfort and proper bite.
The most obvious benefit of the CEREC® system is its time-saving element. Unlike most other restoration procedures which require at least two to three office visits, CEREC® crowns and veneers can be fitted and placed in under one hour. By using CEREC®’s computer technology, Dr. Bourque-Hutchison eliminates the need to send moldings to a laboratory for shaping. Instead, crowns and veneers are created on the spot. This helps patients to look and feel their best as quickly as possible.
Another benefit of CEREC® restorations is that they are stronger than their hand-layered counterparts. Because the porcelain is milled by a computer, it is not only stronger but also more precisely crafted, eliminating the risk of human error. This results in a comfortable, secure fit, improving the overall look of the teeth. Finally, there are a variety of porcelain blends available for CEREC®. Your dentist can choose the shade that most closely matches your natural teeth, further increasing the effectiveness of the treatment. When cared for properly, CEREC® restorations can last for many years and possibly even decades.
