Tooth Bonding (A Relatively Easy Repair)

July 14, 2010 @ 10:12 PM — by Dr. Hutchison

Teeth that are chipped, discolored, or irregularly shaped lend themselves to a relatively easy repair known as tooth bonding. Just like sculptors use clay dentist use something called composite resin to make their art in dentistry. Bonding can be used to coat and reshape the teeth in your smile and lighten the stains, close minor gaps, or reshape teeth. Once the resin is applied the dentist puts your smile under high intensity light where the dentist then sculpts and polishes the smile. The dentist will do his/her best to match the surrounding teeth in terms of color and form. For most cases this procedure only takes one visit.

P.S. the results of tooth bonding can be expected to last about six to ten years.
